Amnesty for Treasury

November 14, 2009

Just like the overlooked plan to give visas to immigrants who buy a house (thus bailing out our subprime mortgage industry, theoretically), I am willing to fully endorse the new White House plan to grant legal status to immigrants who voluntarily pay their back taxes–and no, I’m not just saying that because of the increase in business I’d be seeing.

The same could be done for marijuana amnesty, as well as any other black markets we create by indiscriminately legislating in the face of inelastic demand curves.  Why put the revenues in the hands of people willing to go to illegal extremes and who need guns to enforce their contracts?
