Eighth Sign of the Apocalypse: Twitterature

November 25, 2009

The world of writing has literally come full circle with the introduction of Penguin Books’ Twitterature: The World’s Greatest Books Retold Through Twitter.  Of course, you have to be familiar with the originals for this project to be worthwhile at all, but the brevity imposed by the 140-character limit produces some predictably witty results.  E.g.,

Hamlet: WTF IS POLONIUS DOING BEHIND THE CURTAIN???

Dante’s Inferno: I’m havin a midlife crisis. Lost in the woods. Shoulda brought my iPhone.

Oedipus: PARTY IN THEBES!!! Nobody cares I killed that old dude, plus this woman is all over me. Total MILF.

From Paradise Lost: OH MY GOD I’M IN HELL.

Ultimate bathroom reader?
